![]() Riesling is sweet, but if it is done well, it’s also really well balanced. ![]() My favorites were a Washington Riesling and a California Chardonnay.Ĭhoose a riesling with strong pear notes and balanced acidity. So, I have two favorites and no runner up. With the wines I carefully selected to sip with my kids cold leftover fish sticks, I either loved the pairing it or hated it. Greasy, buttery, flakey … what more could a kid want? An iPhone and a pony, of course. My kids get pretty excited when fish sticks are on the menu. The “winner” – La Bella Prosecco, however I’m sure any Prosecco or bubbly wine will do the trick. So if you’re looking to “upcycle” your child’s homemade way-too-thick smoothie (or your own … we’ve all been there) I suggest a splash of Prosecco to kick it up a notch. It didn’t take much, and because of my impromptu decision I didn’t measure it, but it must have been less than 1/4 cup and it made a BIG difference. I poured a little Prosecco into the mug and stirred it around, not only did it immediately improve the consistency, but oh my gosh, it was so good it was probably the best decision I’ve made today. I looked at the Prosecco still sitting on the kitchen counter and an idea formed in my mind. She scooped some – with an ice cream scoop – into a coffee mug for me. ![]() As she served the other kids, I advised them to use a spoon to eat it with. It turned out the consistency of slightly softened sherbet with whole blueberries intermixed throughout. #CHIKN NUGGIT PLUSH PLUS#She stuffed so much frozen fruit in the cannister that my brand new Instant Ace Plus blender could not “smoothie” it on its smoothie setting. Anyway, today’s smoothie contained a frozen berry medley, frozen mangos, and whole milk. ![]() I’m not kidding, I was lucky we had frozen fruit this time – last week my daughter made one with acai packets and frozen corn, which actually turned out surprisingly yummy. Or pairings to the things you let them make because, well, what else are they going to do during COVID?Īs with all smoothies made by my children, this one was made with whatever we had in the freezer. So … after 4 years (?), I’m back on the blog! to provide you with more wine pairings to your kids cold leftovers. I couldn’t resist the thought of posting about the discovery I made, it seemed too perfect not to share on the blog (disclaimer: please excuse my crappy iPhone photos and formatting, this was NOT a planned post, future posts will be done with my Canon and some actual planning). Since my last post, my computer has crashed and had its memory wiped so my original blog photos as well as photoshop settings and formats have been lost and it will take some time to figure those out again.Īll that being said, today my 13-year-old daughter made smoothies in the middle of a dreary COVID day at about the same time I had decided to pour myself a mimosa. ![]() #CHIKN NUGGIT PLUSH UPDATE#Quick update before we get to wine and smoothies … I was in nursing school (hence why I have not posted in years), I graduated with my BSN in May 2020, passed the boards to obtain my RN in early June 2020, and I fulfilled my dream of becoming a nurse at my local birthing center in mid June 2020! I’ve often thought about how I really wanted to get back to writing this blog, but never got past just thinking about it.
